Pottery Club

Staff Supervisor:  Ms Lindenberg, Mrs Stevenson

A new club started this year at CSS: Pottery Club. Every Thursday after school from 2:30 until 4:30, students gathered

upstairs in 202 to learn about various pottery techniques. With the assistance of local potter, Perry Poupore, the students
were able to experiment with pinch pots, slab pieces and some even got to try throwing on the wheel. They produced loads of
creative pots, mugs and bowls.

As a result of the popularity of this club, Ms. Stevenson and Ms. Lindenberg applied for a grant to get CSS its own pottery
wheel. The HPE Learning Foundation generously supplied the funds necessary to purchase a brand new wheel for the art
department. Second semester, the wheel will be given its first test-drive by our SHSM in Arts and Culture
students. This group of students will work alongside Perry to learn basic throwing skills needed to create
pots on a wheel.

With the recently repaired kilns, the new wheel, the assistance of Perry, and the support of our teaching
staff and administration, the pottery club will continue to be a fixture at CSS for years to come.
