A huge congratulations to Alex Dolan, The 2019 Reindeer Games Champion! Alex outlasted the entire school to take the crown this year, including an epic showdown with last year's Champion Charlotte Bannon and the ever-so-crafty Liv Cook. Gracious in victory, Alex also decided to share his spoils with his two worthy adversaries.
Alex's name will be enshrined in the Reindeer Games Hall of Champions and he can walk a little taller until next year's competition begins. Congratulations Alex!

Specialist High Skills Major (SHSM) Programs at CSS!
The Specialist High Skills Major program, or SHSM ("sha-zaam"!), is a ministry-approved specialized program that allows Grade 11 and 12 students to focus their learning on a specific sector while meeting the requirements to graduate from secondary school. It also assists them in their transition after graduation to apprenticeship training, college, university, or the workplace.
Students at Centennial can enrol in a SHSM program in one of two areas:
Arts & Culture
or
Health & Wellness
Students enrolled in the Arts & Culture High Skills Major program will be enrolled in number of components designed to help them connect their in-school learning to their post-secondary goals, while further exploring their passion in the Arts. These components include:
- An 8 credit package of G.11 & G.12 courses, including 8 "major" credits focussed on the Arts, and a 2 or 4 credit Co-op
- 6 sector recognized certifications, including CPR, First Aid, WHMIS, and 3 Arts-specific certifications
- Reach Ahead Activities designed to provide students with experiences related to the Arts field after high school
- Experiential learning opportunities that allow students to experience the Arts in a variety of different forms
Students who successfully complete the program will graduate with a "red seal" diploma identifying them as not only a graduate, but a specialist in the area of Arts & Culture. They will also receive a record card with their diploma outlining the training, certifications, and experiences that student has received while taking part in the SHSM program.
